I told you I’d be posting again soon.
ATTENTION: I have important, exciting, super cool and unique news about JUST SAY YES! You know how most books get published as a hardcover and then you have to wait a year or more to get it in paperback? Well, not so for JUST SAY YES!
Along with a hardcover, the book will also be published as a paperback original! On the same release day—January 30, 2024!
Do you know what this means? This means the book won’t weigh so much when you lug it around in your bag. But also, it means you can get the book cheaper!
With the way the market is shifting, the team over at Henry Holt Books for Young Readers thought it’d be good to give JUST SAY YES a paperback run right away. Adult Romance tends to get trade paperback releases, and I love the idea of YA Romance following suit. I’ve always supported a YA shift to paperback. It’s kids who are buying our books and I think the math goes: make the books cheaper + more widely available = more readers will be able to find them.
I hope you’ll do me a solid and pre-order JUST SAY YES at your fave book retailer. Here’s a small preview of what the full paperback cover will look like. This is how us authors get them in our inbox, along with some comments from the art department about suggested tweaks. (See if you can spot the little yellow comment box.)
And speaking of pre-orders, here’s something extra for you:
If you pre-order my book anywhere, and send a pic of your receipt along with your address to goldypreorders@gmail.com, I will send you this sticker of the cover along with a signed bookplate:
I love cover stickers. The first thing I do these days when I see my final cover is make a little sticker of it. Why? Because it’s cute. I’ve been making them since The Mary Shelley Club, and just look how nice the stickers look on my laptop.
And because it’s the holiday season, can I point you in the direction of my local indie bookshop, Greenlight Bookstore? They carry my books, and I occasionally drop in to sign them. So, if you’d like a personalized message, a signature, maybe a little doodle, in your copy—of any of my books—I will gladly do that and include a sticker or tattoo associated with said book in your order.
Just indicate your specific signing request in the "Order Comments" field at checkout.
Until next time!
JUST SAY YES
Jimena Ramos had no idea she was undocumented.
Now she’s seventeen, and she needs to figure out a way to stay in New York City, the only home she can remember. There’s only one possibility that will get her a green card quickly enough: Jimena is going to find an American to marry her.
She’s got one excellent candidate: Vitaly, her next-door neighbor and friend, the only person she trusts with her secret. But Vitaly’s got his own plans for the future. He’s a definite no.
So Jimena tries online dating. She decides to approach this marriage like a business transaction. She figures out a plan that just might save her and make her a citizen at last.
But of course, she can’t stop thinking about Vitaly.
It was in fact my first Black Friday book purchase!
